January is School Board Recognition Month
The Oregon School Boards Association identifies January as School Board Recognition Month, a month when our community celebrates the dedicated local leaders who volunteer their time to prepare today’s students for tomorrow’s world.
HSD school board members are very important to the culture and climate of our schools. They establish clear standards for student performance, create a climate that supports the philosophy that all children can learn at high levels, and commits to continuous education and training on issues related to student achievement.
The HSD school board members are recognized this month on social media, at their monthly regular business meeting, and at the schools with celebrations and assemblies.
“The seven members of the Hermiston School District school board donate countless hours to the students and staff of HSD,” said Superintendent of Schools Tricia Mooney. “They ensure the voice of our local community is heard at the state level and consistently make decisions for the best interest of our students.”
